As commendable as Ross Pearson’s effort against Ryan Couture at UFC on Fuel 9 may have been, the gutsy decision to fight on a badly damaged foot could have cost “The Real Deal” a significant chunk of time considering the additional stress the fight put on his injury. Pearson and his team made the call to compete despite concern he’d broken a bone backstage while warming up for the bout.
Fortunately, it turned out to be the right move. Not only did Pearson knock Couture out in highlight-reel fashion, but it looks like his foot was not as bad off as originally thought. The 28-year old recently took to Twitter and explained follow-up testing hadn’t shown any fractures.
“Docs said not broken! Crazy night. Still swollen but bruising come out now! Going back for another CT scan this week,” wrote Pearson.
The 15-6 Pearson has won back-to-back bouts by way of strike-based stoppage. It is unknown when he will be ready to fight again.
