A trilogy six years in the making is set for completion this summer when Sam Stout (17-7) scraps with Spencer Fisher (24-8) in hopes of coming out ahead with the 2-1 series win. The two talented lightweights first fought in 2006 when Stout was 21, picking up a Split Decision win over the seasoned veteran, with the second clash coming a year later and featuring Fisher earning the judges’ nod.
According to the UFC, the bout is set for June 22 at UFC on FX 4.
“Their first two fights were absolute wars and this one promises to be just as thrilling,” said UFC President Dana White of Stout vs. Fisher III.
In addition to being a good fight stylistically and having history involved, the bout also pits two pugilists against each other who are in desperate need of a victory inside the Octagon. Fisher has lost four of his last five fights including back-to-back bouts, and though Stout’s case isn’t as dire he is still coming off a decision defeat in his last outing. As such, the recipe certainly appears to be one for fireworks come their meeting in Atlantic City.
UFC on FX 4 is headlined by 155-pound contenders Clay Guida and Gray Maynard mixing it up in a five-round rumble. Other scheduled fights include Rick Story vs. Rich Attonito, Ross Pearson vs. Cub Swanson, and Dan Miller vs. Ricardo Funch.
