Brock Lesnar returns to the ring on WWE RAW

Former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar has never been a man of many words. Since retiring from Mixed Martial Arts, little has been heard from Lesnar on the public front and even until the final few minutes of last night’s WWE RAW it appeared rumors of him re-signing with WWE may have been just that – rumors.

When Lesnar did show up he still didn’t have to utter a single sound to make a significant statement, offering his hand to John Cena before pulling him in for a trademark F-5 slam, then kicking Cena’s hat out of the ring for good measure afterward. The sequence came shortly after Cena admitted The Rock earned his respect at Wrestlemania 28 and asked “The Great One” to accept his congratulations in person.

Lesnar’s presence at RAW marks the return of one of the company’s biggest stars after nearly a decade away from professional wrestling to focus at first on football and more recently MMA where he held the UFC heavyweight title, defending it twice successfully as well. He recently retired from the sport after suffering a strike-based stoppage to #1 contender Alistair Overeem in December. Lesnar originally departed WWE despite making millions of dollars in annual salary, citing issues with the required travel and toll on his body.

Lesnar Signs One-Year Deal with WWE

The 34-year old is expected to work a light schedule over the next year leading up to Wrestlemania 29 where he will presumably play a prominent role.
