UFC President Dana White has recently seen the light on the dangers of performance enhancement drugs, and has said things will be changing for the fighters with Therapeutic Use Exemptions, or sometimes referred to as Testosterone Replacement Therapy. UFC Middleweight Vitor Belfort is one of those fighters that White will be watching more closely, but Belfort insists he never made a secret about his medical history. Belfort says he is tested weekly to make sure his levels are within normal levels, and that the UFC knows he isn’t a cheater.
He recently told Tatame:
“The UFC always knew that I use, do not do it to cheat. I have medical monitoring and UFC also accompanies it. Never broken through anything, always acted cleanly. Do blood tests every week to equal the testosterone levels of a person my age. Many people are averse to treatment. I do not. I am in favor of people being open and fair in what they are doing,”
UFC On FX 8: Belfort Vs Rockhold takes place on on May 18 at Arena Jaragua in Santa Catarina, Brazil. Middleweights Vitor Belfort and former Strikeforce Champion Luke Rockhold will meet in the main event.
