Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko (27-1) scored another “W”, this time in a South Korean legal battle over the promotional rights to his image.
Emelianenko’s likeness was used to hock honey in the following commercial:
The only problem is that the Seoul Sambo chief who sold the rights to Emelianenko’s likeness apparently didn’t have the authority to do so.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office charged the unidentified man with fraud Monday.
Emelianenko’s suit claims, “Fedor is the sports star who commands the image of being the strongest fighter in the world… The defendants damaged Fedor’s image by producing commercials that do not fit his powerful image and were made with shoddy footage.”
Emelianenko is suing for $1.6 million in compensation and an apology in mass-circulation newspapers in South Korea.

Wow, that kinda sucks, but he did ask for it!
Maybe the world’s strongest fighter just doesn’t want his secret to success divulged. He sure seems to be lapping up that honey in the commercial.
