It’s Wrestlemania weekend and the WWE Universe is buzzing over the epic matches planned for Sunday night’s extravaganza. However, an equally huge happening could be on the horizon with some fans even drooling over the possibility of it impacting the Wrestlemania 28 main event!
According to a handful of sources, former UFC champion Brock Lesnar is in discussions with WWE for a return to the ring where he made a name for himself as one of the premier talents nearly a decade ago. He recently retired from MMA after a series of health issues impacted his ability to compete at 100% and, with his relative inexperience, contributed to a December TKO loss to #1 contender Alistair Overeem.
News of the formal interaction between Lesnar and WWE was first reported by The Wrestling Observer.
The Rock recently teased the idea of a bout with Lesnar at Wrestlemania 29 in New Jersey, an event “The Great One” has already committed to participating at. The Rock faces John Cena on Sunday in a pairing also receiving a yearlong build after the two first butted heads leading up to Wrestlemania 27.
Another interesting option could involve The Undertaker, especially if “The Phenom” maintains his unbeaten streak at Wrestlemania on Sunday by beating HHH. Lesnar and Undertaker had a memorable confrontation after Lesnar’s title-loss to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121 where Taker (Mark Calaway) confronted Brock as he walked back to the locker room.
