UFC President Dana White’s dream of one day creating a “World Cup” of Ultimate Fighter champions takes its first step towards reality this weekend when TUF Brasil is unveiled. Featuring coaches Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort, the show will follow the American version’s format as sixteen featherweights/middleweights compete for the right to be named a TUF winner while also earning a sizeable contract in the process.
The first episode of TUF Brasil airs this Sunday on Brazilian outlet Rede Globo with international fans getting streaming access to it hours later on TUF.TV (12:00 AM EST/9:00 PM PST). It is expected to feature the initial elimination round as well as team selections and the debut of the TUF Brasil house.
Among the many Brazilian UFC stars expected to lend their advice to the contestants are middleweight champ Anderson Silva, heavyweight champ Junior Dos Santos, featherweight champ Jose Aldo, as well as former title-holders Mauricio Rua and Lyoto Machida.
At the end of the season it is expected both finals, as well as a bout between Belfort-Silva, will be featured on a June card in Rio de Janeiro.
