Georges St-Pierre Was Injured A Week Before UFC 158

gsp

Defendng UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre’s coach Firas Zahabi is saying GSP was injured in his main event tilt against Nick Diaz. Turns out a week or so out from the fight, St-Pierre injured his achilles tendon during his final sparring session for UFC 158. St-Pierre was forced to take the  rest of the week off to rest the ankle, and it was serios enough that Zahabi thought it might tear during the fight itself.

He told MMAFighting:

I was worried it would tear during the fight. We had to cut his last training session short due to his injury. He had a week to rest it and then the fight. He wants to take a couple of months off because his two fights were very close to each other and he wants to enjoy the summer.
