Chances are you had a better day than UFC Bantamweight Alex Caceres yesterday. The 24 year old bantamweight fought at UFC On Fuel TV 8: Silva Vs Stann earlier this month where he defeated Kyung Ho Kang via split decision. Caceres learned yesterday that the results from his post fight drug test came back positive for marijuana metabolites, and that his win in Japan will be overturned to a no contest. In addition, Caceres was handed down a six month suspension and upon completing the time he will have to provide a clean test.
In a statement sent media, Caceres took full responsibility for the unfortunate circumstances:
“I accept full responsibility for my actions and the consequences from those actions. I apologize to all that I have disappointed, including the UFC, my family, coaches, training partners and fans. I accept the sanctions from the UFC and I look forward to completing the necessary steps to getting back in the octagon following the suspension and assuring that this never happens again.”
