Europe’s largest MMA promotion, Cage Warriors, has announced that they will be holding a Flyweight Tournament in Dublin, Ireland. Cage Warriors’ CEO Graham Boylan recently said that they were planning some one night tournaments, and he is delivering with a 4 man flyweight tournament that will determine Cage Warriors inaugural Flyweight Champion.

“I’m a huge fan of the lighter weight classes and interest in the 125lbs division has skyrocketed since the UFC started theirs last year. I’m really excited about this,” said Cage Warriors Matchmaker Ian Dean. “The fights in this division are fast, skillful and exciting. Recently at Cage Warriors we’ve seen some impressive performances from the likes of Neil Seery, Kris Edwards and Phil Harris, who defeated two very skilled North American opponents before being signed by the UFC.”

On the preliminary card, the 4 flyweights  will fight two 5 minute rounds, and then later on the main card the final pair will fight a full five 5 minute round title fight. If the 2×5  fight is scored a draw, the fighters will fight a third five minute round. Dean concluded “With the number of promising flyweights in the UK and Europe increasing, it’s time these guys had a worthy title to aim for and I think this tournament will provide that opportunity. The winner of this tournament will be a worthy and legitimate title-holder in an up-and-coming and competitive division.”

Participants will be announced in due time, but the event is  scheduled to take place on June 1st at the Helix in Dublin, Ireland.
