Strikeforce's Scott Coker Won't Rule Out Jose Canseco Fight
By: Fighters.com Staff Posted On: March 16, 2010 at 11:59pmStrikeforce CEO Scott Coker told MMA Junkie, “I can tell you this: If Cesar Gracie says to me, ‘Jose’s training with me, I’m going to get him ready, and I’m going to do it in four or five months,’ and Cesar’s telling me this? That will have a lot of weight on what we decide [about Canseco fighting for Strikeforce.]”
Canseco has publicly lobbied for a matchup with Strikeforce heavyweight and former former NFL Pro Bowl running back Herschel Walker (1-0).
But, no contract has been signed with Canseco and Coker added that “he’s not trying to create a ‘freak show’.”
Canseco’s MMA career has thus far only featured a hilarious beatdown by “Techno Goliath” Hong Man Choi (2-3) after which Canseco claimed he was led to believe before the fight that the fighting wasn’t going to be real.
