Nick Diaz Isn’t Guaranteeing He’ll Pass UFC 158 Drug Test

UFC welterweight Nick Diaz has never denied smoking marijuana and in fact spoken openly about the drug’s benefits in the past. However, though he has a prescription for pot, most athletic commissions view the substance as a PED and treat it similarly to steroids in terms of punishment. As such, Diaz has been suspended twice in the past for marijuana use with the most recent involving a yearlong break from action after a bout with Carlos Condit last February.

While the logical assumption would be to believe Diaz may have adjusted his intake to avoid the possibility of a third strike, especially with a title-fight against Georges St-Pierre tomorrow night at UFC 158, the Stockton scrapper recently told the Tim and Sid Show he only toned it down to a minor extent. However, he’s not overly concerned, especially since he believes the UFC won’t test him as a means of protecting St-Pierre.

“Hell no, I’m not guaranteeing anything. I did a little better than last time, so if I don’t pass the test, I’m sorry. I could probably use another year off vacation. It’s not like I enjoy this, taking punches to the mouth.”

“I believe that he’s on plenty of steroids. And I don’t think they test around here and I don’t think I’ll be tested, as well. I don’t think either of us are going to be tested and if so, he’s probably got a bottle of piss in his pocket. I doubt they’re standing over him making sure he’s not on steroids.”
