UFC 158: St-Pierre Vs Diaz Results/Play-By-Play

The time for trash talk is over for reigning welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz, and the only thing left for the pair to do is to put on the four ounce gloves and determine a winner. It all goes down on this Saturday night for UFC 158: St-Pierre Vs Diaz at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The main card will also feature welterweight fights between Carlos Condit-Johny Hendricks and Jake Ellenberger-Nate Marquardt.

The preliminary fights kick off at 6:30 Est on Facebook, and Fighters.com will be bringing you wall to wall coverage of the entire card and the evenings happenings.

Roop opens up with kicks, and Duran is already on his heels. Duran is staying composed, and is looking for counters. Roop is using his teep kick very well. Roop goes up stairs with a headkick and comes very close to landing. Duran lands a solid one two and Roop stumbles and is hurt. Duran is really finding his timing and is countering very well. Duran catches a kick and lands a nice counter. Duran ducks under a kick and takes down Roop. Duran is working from the guard, but Roop is threatening with submissions and avoiding damage. Roop is landing big elbows from the bottom as Duran isn’t doing very much from the top position.

Round 2
Duran takes the center and he lands a nice hook right away. After Roop whiffs on a front kick, Duran closes the distances and grabs a leg. Roop turns him around and gets the takedwon, and is threatening to take his back. Roop is looking for the rear naked choke, and Duran stands up. They clinch again on the fence and Roop is pressuring Duran. They break up and Roop lands a big body kick. Duran scrambles and gets a takedown. Roop scrambles to his feet, and clinches Duran on the fence.

Roop opens  up with the front kick, and Duran gets the takedown but Roop pops up. Duran still pressuring him on the fence. Roop turns it around and is landing big shots to the body and head of Duran. Roop is really marking Duran up.  Duran can’t get off the fence and is getting brutalized. Roop takes down Duran. Duran scrambles up, and Roop takes his back.  A small scramble, and both pop up and Duran presses Roop on the cage. Roop is landing some decent knees even  though its Duran pressing forward on the fence.

T.J. Dillashaw vs. Issei Tamura
Round 1(ref: Yves Lavigne)
Dillashaw takes the center, and they begin to feel each other out as Tamura circles.  Dillashaw is coming forward, and Tamura looks light on his feet. Tamura lands a nice counter, and Dillashaw ducks under a punch and gets the takedown. Tamura is down for a second or so, but is reversing the position and they are in a scramble. Tamura back up, with Dillashaw pressing him on the fence. Dillashaw seems to be able to get Tamura down, but he can’t get him there. Dillashaw still pressing him on the fence, and landing knees to the legs of Tamura. Dillashaw landing some good body shots, but not much going on.  Ref breaks em up. Dillashaw misses on a high kick, and Tamura is circling again. Tamura lands a nice one two, and Dillashaw is chasing Tamura and missing with everything. Dillashaw lands a hook as the round ends.

Tamura looks  like the fresher fighter, and Dillashaw is coming forward agaiin. Dillashaw lands a big head kick, and down goes Tamura. Dillashaw swarms and finishes off Tamura.

Quinn Mulhern vs. Rick Story

Story takes the center, and Mulhern is circling. Story starts landing big shots on the fence, and Mulhern is swinging back. Story gets the better of that one. Mulhern shots, and Story sprawls. Mulhern throws a front kick to the body. Mulhern lands a nice body kick left hand combination. Story lands some big shots to the body and ended with a big leg kick. Mulhern lands a big right hand, and Story backs off a bit. Story still walking down, and Mulhern is getting the timing of Story. Mulhern eats a big uppercut, and Story opens up on Mulhern. Mulhern wipes his eye, and Story walks him down and starts landing big shots and Mulhern goes down. Story swarms and finishes Mulhern.

Daron Cruickshank vs. John Makdessi

Makdessi takes the center, and Cruickshank is circling. The feeling out begins. They exchange leg kicks, and Makdessi starting to come forward more. Both fighters cautious so far and the crowd doesn’t like it. Makdessi is throwing a lot of kicks, some of them are landing, but Cruickshank is returning fire with low kicks. Makdessi lands a nice body shot, and is working the jab well. Cruickshank keeps landing a nice front kick. Cruickshank gets hit in the pills, and they have a break in the action. Makdessi coming forward, and lands a nice one two. Cruickshank lands a spinning back kick to the body and then shoots in on Makdessi, but they exchange punches as the round ends. Close round.

Makdessi takes the center again, and he lands a nice left hook. Cruickshank lands an ok head kick, but it was mostly toes that landed. Cruickshank eats a big leg kick from Makdessi, and Makdessi is still coming forward. Cruickshank lands a nice uppercut. Cruickshank tries a spinniing attack that misses, and Makdessi lands a nice hook to wake him up. Makdessi lands a spinning back kick, and Cruickshank throws some strikes and shoots. Makdessi sprawls and they are back to trading. Cruickshank is still circling, and eats a jab from Makdessi. Both fighters showing off their tae kwon do. Cruickshank lands a nice combination, and Makdessi returns fire and  is gaining momentum. Makdessi lands a hard overhand right and one final flurry before the round ends.

Makdessi opens  up with a hook, and Cruickshank is throwing kicks early. Makdessi’s jab is really paying dividends. Cruickshank is throwing alot of kicks, and he lands a nice right hand but Makdessi counters. Cruickshank slips after eating a kick, and Makdessi waves him up. Makdessi lands a nice body shot, and Cruickshank seems to be waiting on Makdessi. Cruickshank shoots, and Makdessi sprawls and makes him eat some punches. Makdessi lands a nice counter that prompts Cruickshank to shoot, but again Makdessi sprawls and makes hm eat some shots on the ground. Makdessi lands a nice hook, and the a spinning back kick to the body of Cruickshank. Cruickshank doing a lot of missing in this round. Makdessi gets poked in the eye, and they break in action. Makdessi is walking down Cruickshank and landing kicks. Cruickshank is coming forward  and is just walking into a buzz saw of punches from Makdessi as the round ends.

Jordan Mein vs. Dan Miller

Mein takes the center, and Miller comes forward to take it back with a few jabs. Mein coming forward, and Miller is landing his jab nicely.  Mein lands a body shot, but Miller grabs a hold of him and gets the takedown.  Miller grabs an arm bar in a scramble and he almost gets it, but Mein rolls out and walks away. Miller lands a nice jab and a right hand that wobbles Mein a little bit.  Mein lands a nice step in elbow, and  Miller returns with a solid one-two followed by a body kick. Mein is coming forward but its Miller who is landing. Mein lands a biig hook that drops Miller, and Mein waves him up instead swarming. Mein lands a big right hand. Mein is landng some big jabs and he just opens up with strikes and lights  up Miller. Miller goes down and eats some  shots from the top position and Mein finishes him from the top with strikes.

Antonio Carvalho vs. Darren Elkins

Fighters clinch almost right away and begin working the body. They exchange and Elkins shoots, and Carvalho defends but eats some punches. Elkins is landing a nice one two combination over and over. However, Carvalho’s hook is coming is fast. Elkins clinches on the fence and lands some elbows and knees before Carvalho creates some space.  Carvalho misses with a head kick, and Elkins lands a nice counter left hook. Carvalho eats a right hand and is wobbly, and its followed by a left hook.  Carvalho goes down and the ref jumps in to save him, but he pops back up. Maybe too soon on the stop.

Patrick Cote vs. Bobby Voelker
Round 1(ref: Philippe Chartier)
Voelker takes the center, and Cote starts throwing jabs early. Voelker returns fire with a pair of his jabs alone.  Cote catches Voelker with an overhand right, and it definitely hurt Voelker and backed him up. Voelker clinches, and Cote spins him on the fence. They exchange knees on the inside. Cote lands an elbow on the break and they split. Cote is setting everything up off his jab, and is landing mean hooks. Voelker lands a nice hook of his own, and Cote lands a leg kick. Voelker gets a trip takedown, and goes to work from the top. Cote rolls for an armbar, but doesn’t get it. Voelker landing some short punches, but Cote is throwing up his legs but not catching anything.

Round 2
They exchange in the  middle, and Cote lands a big uppercut and a leg kick. Voelker still coming forward. Voelker lands a nice leg kick, and another. Cote lands a nice hook leg combo of his own. Cote presses Voelker on the fence, and Cote breaks and lands a huge flurry. Voelker then eats a nice hook from Cote. Voelker comes forward, and lands a nice flurry of his  own. Voelker lands two big knees as Cote goes to clinch. Cote clinches and presses Voelker on the fence, and again Cote lands some big shots on the break. Cote is busted up from one of the knees, Voelker clinches but Cote reverses him on the fence. Voelker lands a big left hand, and they exchange as the round ends.

They both come out swinging, and Voelker lands some big shots that rattle Cote.  Voelker clinches, and Cote presses him on the fence. Voelker lands a big knee, and they clinch on the fence but Voelker is pressing forward now. Cote reverses, and lands a nice elbow. Both men just throw punches and it looks like Voelker got the better of of it. Cote eats a big knee and tries to take down Voelker. Voelker ends up on top landing hammer fists.  Voelker presses forward, and is landing some ground and pound.  Cote pops up, and Voelker dumps him on his back again. Cote gets to his feets, and Voelker pulls him down again. Voelker landing big ground and pound as the round ends.

Colin Fletcher vs. Mike Ricci

Fletcher takes the center, and lands a right hook right off. Ricci coming forward, and lands a glancing headkick. Fletcher lands a solid body kick, and Ricci answers with a one two. Fletcher goes to the body again with a kick, and Ricci having a hard time with the distance. Ricci lands a solid straight left, and Fletcher comes forward. Fletcher lands some nice leg and body kicks. Ricci times a kick and lands a nice left hand, and Fletcher returns fire with a few of his own. Ricci is the one coming forward, but Fletcher is the one stopping and firing. Ricci connects with a slick jab. Ricci eats one to the pills. They are back in action, and Ricci lands a right hook. Fletcher lands a nice knee hok combo, and Ricci fires back with a leg kick. They clinch and the round ends.

Fletcher comes out firing, Ricci lands a head kick and prompts Fletcher to shoot. Fletcher ends on bottom, they scramble and Ricci gets  his back. Fletcher scrambles up and they are clinching back and  forth on the fence. Fletcher is bleeding.  Fletcher lands a solid left hamd and  they stop clinching. Ricci coming forward, but its Fletcher throwing strikes. Ricci wakes up and lands a solid one two. Fletcher lands a big leg kick. A lot of circling  happening. Fletcher lands a spinning back fist that glances.

Fletcher grabs a leg, and is pressing Ricci on the fence. Ricci escapes, but Fletcher still has a body lock. Fletcher is trying hard to get the fight down, but can’t get it. Ricci connects with some sharp elbows. Ricci lands a nice left. Fletcher is connecting on some spinning attacks, but they aren’t doing much. Ricci is coming forward, but he is only really in Fletcher’s face.  Ricci clinches and trips Fletcher. He lands some ground and pound, and Fletcher rolls and Ricci takes his back. Ricci rolls for an arm bar, and Fletcher ends up on top landing some ground and pound.

Chris Camozzi vs. Nick Ring

Ring takes the center, and he lands a solid leg kick. Camozzi comes forward with some jabs, and lands a left hand. Ring is landing solid leg kicks in the exchanges. Ring has his hands down. Ring coming forward, and Camozzi lands a nice combination. Camozzi lands another overhand left, and then a body kick. Camozzi lands a nice uppercut combination, and Ring is only really landing jabs. Ring lands a front kick, and is still fighting  with his hands down. Camozzi lands a nice combination, and Ring fires back with a jab. Ring hits a solid leg kick, Camozzi has been checking most of these. Camozzi lands a solid counter, and a last flury as the round ends.

Ring takes the center, and his hands are much higher but not all the way up. They exchange leg kicks, Ring is more aggressive, and is landing kicks and jabs. Camozzi isn’t firing off. Ring seems to be getting more comfortable. Camozzi lands a big knee to the body and then a left hook that rattled Ring, and  he almost got a takedown off of it. Ring is  circling, and  it seems like Camozzi is getting the better of the exchanges. Camozzi lands a solid leg kick jab combination. Ring eats a big knee as the round ends.

Camozzi coming forward early, and Ring lands a solid combination. Ring is on his bike circling. Rng is doing a good job of mixing up the jabs and landing leg kicks. Camozzi starts landing shots and they clinch on the fence. Camozzi lands some big knees but Ring escapes. Ring lands a nice right hook. Camozzi is walking down Ring, and landing jabs and knees. Ring lands a hook to the body, and Camozzi fires back. Camozzi starting to pick apart Ring. Ring is landing punches but there is nothing on them. Camozzi ends the round with a big knee.

Jake Ellenberger vs. Nate Marquardt

Ellenberger takes the center, and  is pawing with his jab. Marquardt is circling so far and pawing with low kicks. Ellenberger lands a solid leg kick, and then trips over his feet. Ellenberger is eating a bunch of leg kicks, and Marquardt comes forward with a big flurry including a big head kick. He chases down Ellenberger and lands some parting shots, but Ellenberger stops in his  tracks and lands a tight hook that opens up a small cut under Marquardt’s eye.  Ellenberger is coming forward, but isn’t throwing much. Ellenberger lands a big left hook combination that drops Marquardt. While getting  up Ellenberger lights up Marquardt and he face plants on the canvas. Ref stops the fight.

Carlos Condit vs. Johny Hendricks

Hendricks takes the center, and Hendricks opens with a flurry and Condit gets away. Hendricks lands some big shots, and grabs Condit and pulls him down. Hendricks jumps right up. Condit lands a big  knee on the shot in, but Hendricks gets the takedown. Condit gets up for a second, but in a scramble ends  up on the bottom again. Hendricks isn’t doing much from the top. Condit the one coming forward now, Hendricks flys in with missing with punches and picks up Condit and takes him down. Condit scrambles up. and lands a front kick. Hendricks lands some punches, and takes Hendricks’ back. He hops off, and they exchange one last time.

More feeling out  this round, Hendricks comes forward and is landing punches, but Condit is eating them. Hendricks swings to the body, and takes down Condit. Condit pops up, and lands a big right  hand.  Hendricks lands a big flurry, that snaps Condit’s head back once or twice, and then takes down Condit. Condit scrambles up, and lands some  big knees. Condit lands a nice one two, and throws a knee, but gets taken down in the process. Hendricks not doing much with the top position. Condit scrambles up, and lands a solid combination. Hendricks lands a one two, and takes down Condit again. He isn’t doing any damage, and Condit pops up. (corner, sounds like Hendricks’ hand is broke)

Condit comes out swinging, and Hendricks is really reaching in for the takedown. Condit lands a one two, and Hendricks gets the takedown. Hendricks is landing a little ground and pound, and Condit retains gaurd. Condit pops up and lands a big shot or two, and Hendricks comes forward with a few of his own. Condit misses with a head kick, and Hendricks grabs a hold of Condit and takes him down. Condit gets up after landing alot elbows from the bottom, and lands a big right hand. Condit is walking down Hendricks landing shots, and gets taken down. He pops up, and lands some big shots on Hendricks. They swing it out in the middle as the round ends. What a fight.

Diaz takes the center, and right away St-Pierre takes down Diaz.  St-Pierre landing some gnp, Diaz scrambles and St-Pierre is on his back. Diaz scrambles up, and shoots on St-Pierre but he sprawls. St-Pierre scrambles to his back. Diaz scrambles and retains guard. St-Pierre lands some elbows from guard. St-Pierre smothering  Diaz, and he is almost up but St-Pierre pulls him down. St-Pierre is just back riding Diaz, but Diaz scrambles up again. St-Pierre picks up, and takes Diaz down again

Diaz being much more careful, and St-Pierre ia coming forward. Diaz throws a few jabs, and St-Pierre takes down Diaz.  St-Pierre is throwing some gnp, but Diaz is defending well. Diaz give up his back, and St-Pierre lands a big knee to the body. St-Pierre is in back side mount, and landing soft shots on Diaz. Diaz gives up his back, and GSP is just wrestling him. Diaz pops up. Diaz landing jabs and  leg kicks, St-Pierre returns fire with one of his own. Diaz lands a nice straight left as the round ends.

Diaz takes center, and is backing down St-Pierre. Diaz is taunting St-Pierre and walking him down.  Nicks  lands a few punches, and St-Pierre takes him down. Diaz pops up but St-Pierre is on his back, and he breaks free. St-Pierre is landing some jabs, but Diaz stops the takedown. Huge shot from Diaz to the body, and  the a jab. St-Pierre lands a leg kick, and St-Pierre fires back with a jab. St-Pierre lands a solid one two, and Diaz stops the takedown. St-Pierre lands a nice straight right, and Diaz comes forward landing punches. St-Pierre shoots, and Diaz gets guard. St-Pierre is cut, and almost gets up.

Diaz coming forward and landing jabs, but St-Pierre is landing jabs of his own.  Diaz stops another takedown, and eats a jab. St-Pierre throws a right hook, and eats a leg kick for his troubles. St-Pierre shoots for the takedown and Diaz stops it, and they clinch on the fence and exchange knees. Diaz exits with mean hooks to the body of St-Pierre. Diaz landing a steady diet of jabs, but St-Pierre ducks  under takes him down. Diaz scrambles up to his feet, but gets pulled right back down. Diaz scrambles  up again, and they clinch on the fence. They scramble on the ground as Diaz scrambles for a sub.

St-Pierre takes the center and Diaz starts landing kicks. St-Pierre is landing a decent jab, and Diaz lands a solid right hook. St-Pierre shoots but Diaz stuffs it, but St-Pierre is landing knees to the body.  Diaz press St-Pierre on the fence and exchange knees. St-Pierre misses with some jabs, and Diaz misses a head kick and ends up with St-Pierre on his back on the ground. St-Pierre landing some shots from side back mount, but Diaz is rolling and gets up.  Diaz lands a few body kicks,  St-Pierre clinches and Diaz starts landing knees to the body of St-Pierre. They break free and exchange, and St-Pierre ducks  under and gets the takedown. Thats  how this one ends. Diaz raises St-Pierre’s hand.
