Cat Zingano Anxious To Get Back To Training, Fighting

If Ronda Rousey is looking to step back inside the Octagon in late summer, Cat Zingano is prepared to meet her.

Recovering from a knee injury, and a personal tragedy, Zingano told “Inside MMA” Friday night that she is focusing in on returning this year to compete for the UFC female bantamweight title.

“When the time comes, I’m gonna be ready. I feel ready to fight,” Zingano said. “I know Ronda said something about fighting end of summer and I think that sounds pretty good for me too.”

Zingano (8-0) became the No. 1 contender last April when she finished Miesha Tate. However, after going down with a knee injury in training, Tate replaced “Alpha” in the title fight and as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter.

Of Zingano’s eight career wins, seven have been finishes – including four knockout victories.

Rousey recently defeated Sara McMann for her third successful title defense.
