Strikeforce: Cung Le Wants Rematch Versus Scott Smith

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le (6-1) has publicly called for an immediate rematch versus “Hands of Steel” Scott Smith (16-6) in a video released Monday by Strikeforce.

“I’m hoping to get a rematch with Scott Smith as soon as possible,” stated san shou champion Le. He added, “I’m training hard and I’m gonna be back in the cage real soon.”

Le was knocked out by Smith at 3:25 of the final round at Strikeforce in San Jose December 19.  He seemed to have won the first two rounds before letting his guard down and succombing to “Hands of Steel”.

Before the matchup, Le was stripped of his title for inactivity and Fighters.com second-ranked middleweight Jake Shields (24-4-1) won the vacated title in a decision over “Mayhem” Jason Miller (22-7) at Strikeforce in Chicago last November.

Though a Le-Smith rematch hasn’t been announced, since Strikeforce released the video, it seems like they’re fishing for fan reaction about a potential rematch.

It makes total sense his first lost in professional carreer including prior to mma it was an obvious mistake and every fighter at a high level deserves an opportunity to revenge a loss. I truly believe not only will the loss be avenged but the fans will get what they crave so much in mma a real striking contest. One thing about Cung Le and Scott Smith it won’t be a boring wrestling match like Shields.
