A “big” battle has been booked for UFC 146 in the form of “Big Country” vs. “Bigfoot”, otherwise known by their formal names Roy Nelson and Antonio Silva. The show, already set to host a heavyweight title-fight between Junior dos Santos-Alistair Overeem, is scheduled for May 26 in Las Vegas.
The match-up was confirmed earlier today by the UFC.
Nelson has struggled to score a win as of late, losing three of his last four fights, but has been competitive in all of the performances including bouts against Dos Santos, Frank Mir, and most recently Fabricio Werdum. His lone victory in the bunch came against Mirko Filipovic this past October, adding to other wins inside the Octagon against Brendan Schaub and Stefan Struve.
Though Silva will be making his UFC debut at the Memorial Day Weekend event he has scored his share of notable triumphs as well such as those against Andrei Arlovski and Fedor Emelianenko. The well-rounded Brazilian is 16-3 in his career with eleven TKOs to his credit.
