2013 isn’t going very well for UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem. Earlier in the year at UFC 156, Overeem fought Antonio Silva in a match he was heavily favored to win but lost via knockout and had a title-shot slip through his fingers. He was then slated to fight former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos at UFC 160, but news surfaced this week stating he was forced out of the fight due to an undisclosed injury.

Overeem has now announced the nature of the injury that has forced him out of the fight, saying via Twitter:

Injured! Caught a slightly tear in my quad muscle so unfortunatly out of may 25’s UFC. Not happy to let you guys ‘the fans’ down!
