Bellator has been on a solid run as of late, producing a number of entertaining shows laced with potential-laden match-ups. Unfortunately, one of the organization’s upcoming efforts won’t be quite as intriguing as originally planned after some bad news surfaced today.
According to welterweight Douglas Lima (24-5), he will be unable to fight Ben Saunders (16-5-2) in the Season 8 tournament final after breaking his hand in a semifinal scrap.
The talented 25-year old took to Facebook to reveal the matter.
“So disappointed but looks like I wont be able to fight March 21st. I broke my hand against Baker and doctor told me not to fight. So I thank Bjorn Rebney and Bellator for moving the final against Saunders to next season. Thank you guys and I’ll keep you updated!”
Bellator CEO Rebney has also confirmed the change to Bellator 93. No date/event were mentioned in relation to the re-scheduled bout, also a rematch of a November 2011 tilt Lima won by knockout.
