“Shogun” Rua Set for Summer Fight with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

The UFC’s summer schedule just heated up with news that light heavyweights Mauricio Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will mix it up in June. Both are considered to be among the division’s top fighters with each possessing an impressive resume including an original encounter in 2005 “Shogun” won by way of decision.

Brazilian outlet TATAME was first to report the tilt. No specific event/location were attached to the bout.

Rua (21-7) has eighteen TKOs to his credit including strike-based success against Forrest Griffin, Lyoto Machida, and Quinton Jackson. Meanwhile, Nogueira (21-5) is coming off a win over Rashad Evans and has also beaten the likes of Dan Henderson and Alistair Overeem.

Too bad they aren’t fighting at the May event in Brazil. I can only imagine how insane the crowd would be.
