Costa Philippou Would Like Winner of Wanderlei Silva-Brian Stann Bout

Costa Philippou is fresh off his TKO win over Tim Boetsch at UFC 155 in December, and if you were keeping score at home that makes five in a row. The win over Boetsch was the East Coaster’s first Top 10 victory, and since his training partner Chris Weidman is more than likely fighting Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, he wants the winner of Saturday night’s UFC On Fuel TV 8: Silva Vs Stann main event.

Philippou told MMAWeekly:

”To be honest I don’t want to fight that soon, I still need some time to recover from my fight, and some time off to relax. Brian Stann I consider the guy to be a legend. I have so much respect for Brian Stann, the guy’s a hero, and Wanderlei Silva is a legend. It would be a huge honor to fight either one of those guys. Brian Stann would be a great match-up for me, Wanderlei Silva if he decides not to retire, I think would be able to put on a great fight. We’re both great strikers and it would be nice to fight a striker for a change and show my striking skills and put up and exciting show.”

BigMMA are you fuckin’ kidding? Fighting Wanderlei is a step “back” from Tim or whatever the hell his name is Boetsch? Wow. Are you new to the sport? Thats like saying playing Kobe in one on one after beating Matt Bonner is a step down.
