Lyoto Machida Willing To Fight Anyone: Brazilian, Champion

Brazilian or not, Lyoto Machida just wants to continue moving forward in the UFC’s middleweight division.

After earning his second victory at 185 over Gegard Mousasi recently, Machida told “UFC Tonight” Wednesday that he is “almost 100-percent” healed from a foot injury suffered in the bout.

Machida, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, was initially concerned that he broke the foot.

“I have to recover soon, because I want to dance again,” he said. “I don’t know (if I’m the next challenger). I don’t want to wait a long time. I can do one more fight before I fight for the title.”

Machida stated once again that he has no issues competing against another Brazilian – whether that be fellow contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, current challenger Vitor Belfort or someone else.

“I have no problem fighting them,” he said. “I can fight ‘Jacare’ or Vitor.”

Belfort is set to take on Chris Weidman for the belt in May. Machida also offered up his thoughts on that contest.

“I think the first two rounds, Vitor has a big chance,” he said. “He’s very explosive early. Bit if it goes longer, Weidman can beat Vitor.”
