Former Sengoku champion Marlon Sandro comes to Bellator

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and consensus top-10 fighter Marlon Sandro is now coming stateside to be part of the Bellator Fighting Championship fold.

The current King of Pancrase, Sandro becomes a very welcomed addition to a bolstering featherweight class, which is currently ruled by Bellator champion Joe Warren, who won the season two 145-pound tournament and subsequently knocked out then champ Joe Soto to become the rightful ruler.

Now, with tons of experience overseas against some of the best in his weight-class, Sandro will put his skills to the test against the best that Bellator will have to offer.

Bellator officials recently announced the acquisition of Sandro, who not too long ago was the reigning Sengoku featherweight champion before dropping the title to perennial top-5 featherweight Hatsu Hioki.

Officials asserted that Sandro has signed a multi-fight deal, however will not be competing in the upcoming featherweight tournament, which could mean that his purpose in the organization could be at the expense of creating super-fights within the promotion.

Ideally, a bout with Warren would be fireworks for those in attendance. Both men are talented in their own right, however Sandro is perhaps pound-for-pound the hardest puncher in the sport. While he holds a black belt out of one of the most prestigious schools in Brazil, Nova Uniao, four of Marlon’s last victories have come by way of devastating knockout.

His last victory was perhaps his most brilliant performance, as he took on then Sengoku champion Masanori Kanehara, needing only 38 seconds to knockout out the Japanese star and cinch up the belt.

Sandro has won three of his last four bouts, with the lone loss coming at the hands of the aforementioned Hioki, who took Sandro five-rounds to a decision win, claiming the Sengoku title.
