Breaking Down the UFC’s Womens Bantamweight Division

The UFC welcomed women to the Octagon for the first time last weekend at UFC 157 with a clash between champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Liz Carmouche. The fight featured impressive efforts from both and was no doubt an indicator of things to come in the organization.

Fortunately, Carmouche and Rousey are only two of ten female bantamweights currently inked to UFC deals with the other eight featuring a silver medalist wrestler, two former Strikeforce champions, an unbeaten submission whiz, a Brazilian bomber, and more…

Alexis Davis

Alexis Davis is currently riding a two-fight winning streak. In her most recent win Davis avenged a loss to Shayna Baszler at Invicta FC 4 in January. Her most recent loss came by way of majority decision against Kaufman, who is also on the list of ten, and that was a rematch as well. Davis fought Kaufman in her first MMA bout and lost via TKO in the third round. She has finished four of her last six fights, three of which were submission, and Davis hasn’t been finished herself since 2009. She is fighting out of Ontario, Canada and has a BJJ black belt. She has a record of 13-5, and does not have an announced bout yet with the UFC.
