UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche Live Results/Play-By-Play

UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche takes place this Saturday in Anaheim, California at the Honda Center, and Fighters.com will be bringing you wall to wall coverage of the event. In a historical day for the UFC, Ronda Rousey will square off against Liz Carmouche in the first female fight to take place in the Octagon. No one has been able to challenge the submission queen, let alone make it out of the  first round, but Carmouche has every intention of spoiling the party.

In the co-main event, former light heavyweight champions Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson will go toe to toe to see who will be getting the next crack at UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.

Nah-Shon Burrell vs. Yuri Villefort

Round 1 (Ref: Jason Herzog)
Burrell takes the center of the cage, and opens up with an overhand right. HIs upper pays off right away. Villefort catches a sidekick, and takes Burrell down. Villefort takes the back and almost gets the RNC. Burrell scrambles up, and they are back on the feet. Burrell swarms in with a nice left hook. Villefort still throwing solid leg kicks. Burrell landing a consistent amount of one twos, but Villefort seems to be ok. Burrell catches a leg kick and  takes Villefort down. Villefort pops up and takes some shots, and almost scrambles for a leg lock. He breaks free, and after a scramble they pop up.

Round 2
Villefort coming forward and landing leg kicks. Burrell is returning fire, but is loading up on his punches. Villefort lands a huge body shot, and follows with a mean leg kick.Villefort has no problem standing in the pocket and trading, and is still landing these leg kicks. Burrell finally goes back to the uppercut, and it pays off.  Villefort lands a nice head kick, and Burrell returns fire with another uppercut. Villefort comes forward with a solid one two, and is really going to the body of Burrell. Villefort seems to be following Burrell, and Burrell goes back up stairs with an uppercut. Villefort is really putting his chin on display, he can take a shot. Villefort closes with a nice body shot to end the round.

Round 3

Villefort comes rushing in, and Burrell lands a nice combination. Villefort shoots for a takedown and gets it, and takes the back of Burrell. After scrambling out Burrell gets to his feet. Villefort gets another take down and is riding the back. He dives for a heel hook, and Burrell starts lighting him up and he is a mess now. He almost gets it, and rolls to his feet, Burrell almosts gets a guillotine choke of his own. Burrell now holding Villefort up against the fence and lands some solid knees, and they break. Burrell lands a front kick to the face, but he just walks through it. They go toe to toe for the last ten seconds, man what a good fight.

Neil Magny vs. Jon Manley

Round 1 (Ref Herb Dean)
Manley takes the center of the octagon. Manley closes in and clinches and is looking for a takedown. He briefly gets it, but Magny pops right back up. He is really going hard for another takedown, but Magny is doing a great job of defending. Once again he almost gets the takedown, but Magny pops up again. Magny is landing some shots to the body. They break up and Magny lands a nice right hand and leg kick. Manley comes forward and eats a jab, and Magny clinches and lands some knees. Manley back to working  on a takedown. He doesn’t get it. Magny lands another solid one two, and front kick to end the round.

Round 2
Manley coming forward again looking to close the distance. He lands a few shots, and gets Magny against the fence again and finally gets Magny down. Manley moves to side mount, and Magny reverses and ends up in side control himself. Manley scrambles up, and dives right back in on Magny. Magny starts landing knees to the body of Manley. Magny lands a big elbow, and then takes Manley down, and moves into side mount. He lands some solid GNP, but he scrambles up, and is back in on another takedown. Magny lands some punches, and gets a takedown of his own. Manley gets up and they trade shots  on the fence.

Round 3
Magny takes the center, and Manley lands some nice shots. Magny is just  out classing him on the feet. Manley is staying game, and he is landing some shots, but Magny seems very lose with his punches and counters. Magny clinches and gets the takedown. Manley is framing up an armbar, but Magny takes his time and escapes for now. After a scramble Magny starts landing some solid ground and pound, but Manley is able to scramble to his feet and shoot for another takedown he won’t get. Magny is staying busy with elbows, but Herb Dean breaks em up. Magny lands a solid jab, and ends with a takedown.

Brock Jardine vs. Kenny Robertson
Round 1(Ref. John McCarthy)
Jardine takes the center first, and eats a leg kick from Robertson. Robertson shoots in for a take down, and Jardine locks up a guillotine. Robertson sneaks his way out, and moves into half guard. Robertson moves to side mount, and takes the back of Jardine in a scramble. Robertson flattens him out, and he is landing punches. He almost gets the rear naked choke, but Jardine is defending well.  Jardine stands up with Robertson on his back, and Robertson secures some sort of knee bar that forces Jardine to tap. 2:57

Caros Fodor vs. Sam Stout
Round 1
The clinch early, and Fodor is really staying tight, and looking for a takedown. Fodor finallys gets the takedown. Stout hits the switch and escapes out the backdoor and we are back to the feet. Fodor landing some bodyshots but the pressure is all Stout. Fodor is coming forward and staying aggressive, and Stout starts landing elbows in the clinch. Stout staying tight in the clinch,and not much is happening. Stout gets the trip, and ends  up in full guard and he moves to half. Stout moves to mount, and starts working the ground and pound. Stout rolls for an arm bar and almosts gets it but the round ends.

Round 2
Fodor comes right again, and throws punches and forces the clinch. Fodor lands a big right hand and it forces Stout to clinch. Fodor still coming forward. Stout landing nice one twos, and lands a decent head kick. Fodor still confident and measuring up Stout. Stout landing some leg kicks, and followed it up with a nice right hand. Fodor lands a nice left hook. Fodor tries  an inside trip but Stout reverses the position and throws a nice knee. They break up, and Fodor coming forward with jabs and shoots again. Stout is landng a nice knee over and over again on the fence.

Round 3
Fodor coming forward again, and Stout reverses and pushes Fodor on the fence. Fodor almost gets another takedown, but Stout pops back up and lands a nice left hand. Stout seems to be pushing around Fodor, and Fodor shoots again but Stout is up pretty well. Fodor is trying to get the takedown but he can’t get it on Stout. Stout reverses and they break off.Fodor lands a nice combinations and shoots again, but misses. Fodor lands a few short shots, but Stout forces him on the fence and is working the body.

Dennis Bermudez vs. Matt Grice
Round 1 (Ref Herb Dean)
Grice takes the center, and Bermudez opens up with a kick and ties  up Grice on the fence. Grice turns it around, and goes for a trip, but ends up on bottom mounted by Bermudez. Bermudez lands 40 unanswered strikes according to Goldberg before he got up. Back up exchanging, and Grice lands a nice left hook. Bermudez answers with a nice leg kick, and shoots. Bermudez eats a knee, but is nowon the fence. Grice lands a big elbow and a right on the break. Bermudez comes forward, and lands a solid combination. Grice lands a huge left hook that drops Bermudez but and he is almost finished but he scrambles up. Grice comes forward and lands a solid combination as the round ends.

Round 2
Bermudez takes the center and starts throwing leg kicks. Bermudez slips and eats a hook from Grice, and falls. Bermudez eats another shot from Grice. Bermudez is circling but everytime he comes forward he eats punches from Grice. Bermudez shoots, but Grice stops it. Bermudez lands a nice hook of his own, and it prompts Grice to shoot. He finally gets it, and for a moment Grice had his back. Bermudez scrambles up. They break off and again Grice lands the leg kick left hook combination. Bermudez lands a solid straight right, and clinches but Grice isn’t having it. Grice presses him on the fence, and we are back to clinch work on the fence.Grice shoots again and Bermudez laces up a guillotine but the round ends as Grice flips out.

Round 3
Bermudez comes forward landing punches, and a left hand drops Grice. He swarms on Grice, and is landing tons of shots.  Grice scrambles up to his feet, and Bermudez lands huge shots and almost drops Grice more than 3 times. Grice somehow stays on his feet, and Dean almost stops the fight twice. Bermudez is just teeing off on Grice, and he is firing back, but Bermudez is trying to stop the fight. Bermudez clinches again and eats a hook for his troubles. They go toe to toe for the last 20 seconds, no telling who won the exchanges in that one.

Mike Chiesa vs. Anton Kuivanen
Round 1 (Ref: John McCarthy)
Kuivanen looks psyched up, and is already baiting Chiesa. Chiesa graces with a body kick, and Kuivanen fires back. Kuivanen lands a nice straight left and follows with a front kick. Chiesa comes in and eats an uppercut for his troubles, and  Kuivanen is really putting on the pressure. Chiesa throws a head kick, but slips and pops back up. Kuivanen is doing well to go to the body of Chiesa. Kuivanen clinches with Chiesa, and backs him up. They break up, and Kuivanen coming forward again. He swarms in with big combinations and backs up Chiesa. Chiesa dives for a takedown, and gets it down temporarily, but Kuivanen scrambles up again.

Round 2
Kuivanen takes the center, and Chiesa dives for a takedown. He almost gets it but Kuivanen is doing a good job defending it. Kuivanen reverses and puts Chiesa on the fence and begins working the knees. Chiesa somehow ends up on the back of Kuivanen and is close to a rear naked choke. Kuivanen defending well. Chiesa adjusts, and gets the tap.

Lavar Johnson vs. Brendan Schaub
Round 1 Ref Jason Herzog

Johnson takes the center, and is already stalking Schaub. Schaub gets the takedown and gets into side mount for a minute, and is back in ½ guard. Schaub isn’t doing much with it, in a scramble Schaub laces up an anaconda choke, but Johnson survives by punching him the entire time. Johnson scrambles up and gets a takedown of his own. Johnson goes to side, and Schaub manages to get a sweep and into the guard of Johnson. Schaub isn’t doing much but hanging out in ½ guard. Johnson scrambles to his feet, and Schaub pulls him back down.

Round 2
Johnson starts landing vicious body shots after Schaub tries for a takedown. Johnson landing some solid knees.  Schaub gets an inside trip and ends up in ½ guard. Schaub isn’t doing much. Ref stands them up. Schaub shoots and almosts eats a huge uppercut. Schaub gets the takedown, and is guard of Johnson. Again, Schaub isn’t doing much. He is landing some soft shots, but nothing much on any of them.

Johnson coming forward and lands a big uppercut, after eating another one, Schaub takes him down. Schaub’s face is a mess, the ref stands them up, and Schaub ducks under a punch and gets the takedown. Schaub moves to mount, and Johnson gets it back. Schaub is barely doing anything, and the crowd is letting them know. Johnson almost gets to his feet, but after a scramble Schaub ends up back in the half guard. He is landing some shots, but nothing but mediocre grappling going on.

Josh Koscheck vs. Robbie Lawler
Round 1 (ref Herb Dean)
Koscheck comes out fast and throws a kick. Koscheck shoots a double, and takes him down. Lawler gets up temporarily, but Koscheck has a hold of his head. Lawler gets taken down again, and Koscheck really working a wrestling clinic here. Lawler gets some space, and starts landing shots onto the side of the head of Koscheck. Herb Dean jumps in, might have been quick

Court McGee vs. Josh Neer

McGee comes out firing some jabs, and lands a nice kick. Neer lands a nice straight right that reminds McGee he in a fight. McGee lands one of his own. Neer is really walking down McGee and landing big overhand rights. Neer eats an inside leg kick and returns fire with one of his own. McGee lands a nice combination, and he is starting to mark up Neer. Neer eats three huge kicks, and Neer is just letting McGee tee off on him. McGee lands a mean kick to the liver, and Neer is hurt. He lands some shots, and he buckles.Neer is almost finished but survived.

Round 2
McGee coming forward early. McGee starts landing kicks. McGee is just big bothering Neer around, the only thing significant is coming from McGee. Neer finally lands an uppercut, and McGee swarms on him. Neer can’t get anywhere near him to land anything really solid. Neer landing some solid jabs, and follows with a big uppercut.  Neer is now walking down McGee and landing shots. McGee lands some combinations, and Neer is really turning on at the end  of the round.

McGee looks like the fresher fighter, and Neer is already swinging for the fences. McGee shoots in for the takedown, and they are pressed on the fence now. McGee is leaning on him and just landing right hands. Neer sneaks out, and McGee lands a nice right hand. McGee gets the takedown, and Neer pops up with him on his back. McGee gets him back down, and starts landing ground and pound. Neer is scrambling but McGee is just controlling him, and takes his back. Neer escapes and ends up on his back and eats punches and elbows until the fight ends.

Round 1
Menjivar comes out fast and is throwing overhand rights. Menjivar gets a sweet uchimatta takedown, but Faber reverses the position. He is in side mount, but Faber isn’t doing much. Menjivar gets guard, and is already threatening with subs. Faber landing some nice elbows. Menjivar lands some nice upkicks, but Faber jumps back in and is back to the gnp. Menjivar gets to his feet, but Faber scrambles to his back. Standing, Faber sinks in the rear naked choke, and gets the tap.

Dan Henderson vs. Lyoto Machida
Round 1(ref Herb Dean)
Machida takes the center, and Henderson throws a leg kick.  Machida doing well to keep the distance so far. Henderson reaching with leg kicks, but Machida is staying away well. Machida still gauging the distance. Seems like they are both hesitating to pull the trigger. Henderson comes in and Machida lands a left hand, and Henderson backs off. Machida lands a nice kick to the body. Henderson still coming forward, and Machida lands a nice counter right. Henderson lands a right hand, but Machida seems to be ok. Henderson gets the clinch, but Hendersoncant get the take down. Henderson clinches, and Machida takes down Henderson and lands some gnp at the bell.

Round 2

Machida opens  up with a kick, and Henderson is coming forward. Henderson looking to land leg kicks. Henderson lands a decent right hand, and Machida lands a solid kick to the body of Henderson. Machida gets the chin of Henderson with a front kick, and Henderson is really controlling the distance. Machida lands a nice one two on Henderson. Machida lands a big knee as Henderson comes in, and he takes a deep breath. Machida lands a solid kick to the body, and Machida pushes Henderson down. Henderson eats a knee but lands a left hand. Henderson cmes in with strikes, but no one is home. Machida lands a kick as the round ends.

Henderson taking the center,  but Machida isn’t giving him much space. Henderson eats a big body kick, and comes forward.. He gets the takedown on, but Machida is tying him up and he cant shoot anything off.  Machida scrambles up, and Henderson did nothing with it. They are pretty much just dancing around the ring, and Henderson eats a kick to the face. Then a high kick from Machida, Not much happening in that round.

Ronda Rousey vs. Liz Carmouche

Round 1 (ref Big John McCarthy)
Rousey clinches  Carmouche quickly, and pulls Carmouche to the floor. in a scramble, Carmouche takes Rousey’s back. They are standing, she almost gets the rea naked choke, and she gets shaken off. Carmouche on her back, and Rousey ends up in side mount. Rousey is landing punches, over and over again. Rousey rolls into mount and has the arm, and she rolls her hips until she got the arm extended and gets the tap.
