With less than a month to go before the long-awaited meeting between UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre and controversial contender Nick Diaz, it appeared calm waters were ahead on the journey towards their clash at UFC 158. Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case, as UFC President Dana White recently revealed he’s getting fed up with Diaz’s approach to media and is close to pulling the plug on the Match 16 match-up.
If the bout does fall apart, it will mark the second time Diaz’s failure to meet promotional obligations have cost him a title-shot after a similar situation in 2011.
White reiterated his position last night to media after the conclusion of UFC 157, saying Diaz’s decision to skip three interviews for a UFC Primetime feature had cost the company $50,000 and was nearly the straw that broke the camel’s back.

“I’m really close, and I don’t want to be. I don’t want to do (that). It sucks.”
“It’s not funny. We’re very cool and very lenient in a lot of ways….but that’s just absolute bullsh*t.”
