Bellator makes their first trip into Utah this Thursday night with Bellator 90: Shamhalaev vs. Martinez. The action goes down at the Maverick Center in West Valley City, and the event will be aired on Spike TV. The show is set to feature the previously delayed Season 7 featherweight tournament finals between Shahbulat Shamhalaev and Rad Martinez, in addition to the semifinal round of the Season 8 welterweight tournament and semifinal round of the light heavyweight field as well.

Round 1
Noe takes the center and Zayats almost imidiately drops Noe with a right hook and jumps in his half guard. Noe is holding on for dear life and doing well to protect himself,but he is already bleeding heavy. Zayats working some ground and pound, and Noe is slowly coming around. Noe is bleeding from the mouth. Zayats moves into mount, and postures up and starts pounding on Noe. Zayats rolls for an arm bar, and gets the tap from Noe. Flawless victory for Zayats.

Bryan Baker vs. Douglas Lima

The feeling out begins, and Lima taking the center. Lima is working the leg kicks but not much going on in the fight so far. Baker is going to want to start checking those. Baker not doing much but circling. Lima is following him around. Lima lands a right hand, and Baker is out cold. Baker’s head sprung back like a spring.

Newton takes the center, and lands a right hand. Lawal has his hands down, and looking to counter. Lawal lands a nice right hand counter, and then a nice combination. Newton lands a big right hand on Lawal, and Lawal coming forward. Newton doing good ending combos with kicks. A spinning back fist knocks Lawal clean out! WOW! Lawal went over like a tree.

Shahbulat Shamhalaev vs. Rad Martinez
Round 1
Shamhalaev takes the center, and the feeling out begins as they exchange leg kicks. Shamhalaev content to land leg kicks, and Martinez isn’t doing much. Shamhalaev lands two big left hands, they were off balance shots he wasn’t rocked, but he did drop both times. Martinez back up like a spring. Martinez opening up a bit, but Shamhalaev is really landing the leg kicks over and over. Martinez shoots for the single leg, and Shamhalaev right on his back. Martinez goes to work on the ground and pound. Shamhalaev doing a good job defending most of the shots, and he scrambles to his feet as the round ends.

Round 2
Shamhalaev coming forward again, and we are back to the feeling out process. Shamhalaev lands a nice body shot, and a nice right hand. Martinez is throwing these week low kicks that are barely glancing Shamhalaev. Shamhalaev lands a head kick and he is rocked. Shamhalaev follows up with a knee and Martinez is really on queer street. An overhand right toppled over, and fell straight back.
