Bantamweight Grand Prix Semifinals Set For ONE FC: Kings and Champions on April 5

The ONE FC Bantamweight Grand Prix semifinals are set for the Singapore Indoor Stadium on April 5. The fighters who progressed from the opening round will face off at ONE FC: Kings and Champions.

Former UFC champion, Jens Pulver, is representing the US in this international tournament and he will take on Japan’s Masakatsu Ueda while Filipino Kevin Belingon faces off against Vietnamese-Australian Thanh Vu.

Pulver progressed to this stage courtesy of a decision win over Zhao Ya Fei at ONE FC: Rise of Kings after their fight was cut short and went to the scorecards early in the third round due to repeated low blows from the Chinese fighter.

Ueda beat Korea’s Min Jung Song by unanimous decision on the same night while Belingon didn’t need any assistance from the judges as he stopped Russian wrestler Yusup Saadulaev early in the opening round.

The last quarter final was originally set to be between Vu and former Ryan Diaz but injury to the Canadian and two subsequent replacements saw Malaysian Mohd Fouzien brought in at the last minute and the Vietnamese-Australian stopped him with strikes in just over a minute.

The winners will face off in the final of the ONE FC Bantamweight Grand Prix which will take place on a card later this year and an automatic title shot is also believed to be on the line for the winner of the tournament.

ONE FC: Kings & Champions is headlined by the ONE FC Lightweight World Championship bout between reigning champion Kotetsu Boku and #1 contender . For more information visit www.onefc.com
