Cathal Pendred has vacated his Cage Warriors championship, leaving him open to signing with a new promotion.
The now former welterweight champion sports a 13-2 career mark. He confirmed the news of his decision via Twitter on Wednesday.
“I have officially vacated my world title,” he posted. “Thank you to the promotion and its staff for all the opportunities they have given me.
“Being the Cage Warriors champion has been an honour and has opened many doors for me.”
A new champion is expected to be crowned next month at Cage Warriors 66, to which Pendred said, “Best of luck to all those fighters chasing the title now. Do everything in your power to obtain it. It will change your life!”
Pendred tried out for season 19 of The Ultimate Fighter, which has yet to have the list of cast members released.
