UFC 158 just got a new co-main event. As reported earlier, Carlos Condit will not be fighting Rory MacDonald at the event as the result of “Ares” being forced out of the fight with a back injury. The UFC scrambled to find a new fight for Condit, and it didn’t take long. According to reports, Condit will now face knockout artist Johny Hendricks in the co-headlining slot.
Bleacher Report first reported the news about MacDonald’s replacement, though the change leaves Jake Ellenberger without a fight. Early reports suggested that Tarec Saffiedine was a possible replacement for injured MacDonald, and, according to MMAJunkie, UFC President Dana White said he was offered the fight but turned it down. The UFC is still searching for a replacement for Ellenberger.
