UFC on Fuel TV 7: Barao vs. McDonald takes place this Saturday in London, England, and the first three fights fans can watch on their computers on Facebook. The show kicks off with plenty of local talent as three members from England’s own Team Kaobon face off with foreign talent. These will be fights fans will want to be at their computers for.
Check out a quick breakdown of each of the Facebook preliminary bouts:
Ulysses Gomez (9-3) vs. Phil Harris (21-10)
The flyweights will be on display when Gomez and Harris go at it. Both fighters lost their debuts in the UFC, but it was Harris’ that really sticks out. Sure, Gomez was finished early in his fight against John Moraga, but it was Harris’ loss that is much more telling. Harris was out grappled and outstruck by Darren Uyenoyama in his bout, and lost to a decision. I expect Gomez to do the same thing in this fight, as he just seems to have more tools that will take him to victory circle.
Ulysses Gomez takes the decision.
Stanislav Nedkov (12-0) vs. Tom Watson (15-5)
The undefeated Nedkov is going to have his hands full in this one, and the bad news is we saw some of his true colors in his fight against Thiago Silva when he gasses out in the middle of the second round. Watson, who lost his octagon debut, will look to pressure him from the minute the fight starts, and don’t be surprised if he starts working over Nedkov’s trunk from the first round on. Watson earns the decision here with is striking and conditioning, and takes one step up the middleweight ladder.
Tom Watson by decision.
Motonobu Tezuka (19-5-4) Vs Vaughn Lee (12-8-1)
Tezuka will look to use his striking to set up his shot to take Lee down in this fight, but the sad news for him is that Lee seems to be a better striker. It only gets worse from there for Tezuka as Lee also seems to find a way to win scrambles. If Lee can avoid the submission attempts from Tezuka in this fight, or avoid the ground altogether, he should be able to outstrike Tezuka and get his raised in a close decision.
Vaughn Lee by split decision.
