Fan-favorite B.J. Penn has toyed around with the notion of retirement over the past few years, even going so far as to hang his gloves up for a little over a year after falling to Nick Diaz. When Penn suffered a similar defeat to Rory MacDonald in December, it seemed likely “The Prodigy” would go back to Hawaii and enjoy the simple life rather than that of a UFC fighter.
While Penn does need some time off, specifically to get surgery and repair a cataract, he recently announced via BJPenn.com he still wasn’t dismissing the idea of making one final run in the Octagon if things play out correct during his recovery.
“People ask me all the time if I’m going to fight again and I almost just want to change the subject because right now, I definitely don’t want to fight with a cataract in my eye.”
“If I go in the gym and I’m knocking down all my sparring partners and doing awesome I would definitely think of fighting again.”
