Lawyer For Thiago Silva Provides An Update

The lawyer for Thiago Silva believes his client could get another opportunity to compete for the UFC.

During an interview with SporTV Globo, Scott Saul stated that “I imagine that if we prove his innocence, the UFC will probably reconsider (terminating his contract).”

Silva was involved in a police standoff last week in Florida after making threats against his wife and others at a local Brazilian jiu-jitsu gym.

The UFC immediately released Silva, who was scheduled to compete in March against Ovince St. Preux.

Saul provided an update on Silva and his situation, as well.

“So fair it is a claim, Thiago was not guilty of anything,” he said. “He was not even officially accused of anything. To explain how it works in Florida, the attorney will take around 30 days to render a decision.

“So that’s the problem now. I must do what I can to convince the prosecutor that, independent of the police recorded in the bulletin, things did not happen exactly that. It may be that what the wife said Thiago has been taken out of context, I do not know.”
