Chad Mendes has announced via Twitter that he will no longer be fighting at UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche at the end of the month. Mendes was slated to fight Manny Gamburyan in Anaheim, California, but Gamburyan was forced off the card with an injury to his thumb and elbow. The UFC scrambled to fill the slot, but according to Mendes they were unable to do so.
Mendes posted, “Well guys it looks like I’m off the Anaheim card. Sucks pretty bad. I’ll keep everyone updated with what I find out. Sorry. Manny was injured and no one would step up.”
There is no word as to if the UFC will add another fight to the card or not, and they haven’t made the announcement official yet.
