UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey continues to cash in on her success – both inside and outside of the Octagon.
According to a report by Variety, Rousey has been cast in two upcoming movie projects. She will appear in Brad Thor’s “Athena Project” as the star of the New York Times bestselling book, along with the lead female role in the “Entourage” movie.
Rousey will face Sara McMann in a matter of days at UFC 170. She previously fought in December and many wondered if the timing of the McMann fight was too soon after.
The report states Rousey will begin filming scenes for Entourage in mid-March, while the other film has yet to secure a start date for production.
Rousey has filmed scenes for such movies as “The Expendables 3,” and “Fast & Furious 7.” Her role in The Athena Project, the site states, could cast her into the world of Hollywood stardom as it follows a top-secret, all-female Delta Force counter-terrorism team that is sent in to hunt and kill a master terrorist after a bombing in Rome that kills 20.
UFC president Dana White appears to be on board with the moves by Rousey, posting on Twitter, “Congrats Ronda!!! Couldn’t happen to a better person,” with a link to the Variety story.
