In the media scrum after this past weekend’s UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar, UFC President Dana White pulled no punches when talking about the performance of Alistair Overeem. Overeem talked a lot of trash about Antonio Silva prior to the fight, even calling him a dead man at weigh-ins, but when it came time to put fist to face the former Strikeforce champion didn’t deliver. In fact, the only thing he displayed in his bout with Silva was his low fight IQ.
“He was running into a clinch, he wasn’t throwing punches, his hands were down by his knees, it was a weird fight,” White said about Overeem’s game plan. White agreed with the statement that Overeem was more interested in smiling and taunting and stated, “I’m not sure if he thought he could out-slick Bigfoot, but they need to re-evaluate things over at the Blackzilians. They [Overeem and Rashad Evans] both looked out of shape.”
“The Blackzilians did not represent this evening, it was a bad night for them,” White said at the post-fight media scrum.
