Invicta FC’s growing roster got an impressive new addition this week with the announcement that Bellator champion Zoila Gurgel had inked a deal to compete under the company’s banner for the foreseeable future. Gurgel will make her debut in April against 6-2 BJJer Jennifer Maia at Invicta FC 5, though no date/location have been pinned down for the promotion’s effort.
“I am excited to join Invicta FC, where the best women fighters in the world are competing! Invicta FC has become more than just a promotion – it’s evolved into an entire movement for women’s MMA,” explained Gurgel of the move in a press release from the promotion. “I’m proud to represent that movement while continuing to fight and beat the best opponents out there.”
Fighters.com was able to confirm Gurgel will no longer be fighting in Bellator where she held gold at 115 pounds. Gurgel will take to the cage as a flyweight (i.e. 125 pounds) in Invicta FC.
