Jose Aldo Defending His Title Against Anthony Pettis in Late Summer

Fresh off of his win at UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar, the UFC has confirmed featherweight champion Jose Aldo will defend his belt against former WEC lightweight title-holder Anthony Pettis rather than a contender who regularly calls the division home. Pettis was in Vegas for Aldo’s win over Frankie Edgar, messaging UFC President Dana White with a request for the rumble. White thought it was a good  idea, and as such the UFC has announced Pettis will drop down to 145 pounds for the opportunity…

White told USA Today:

“Two of the baddest dudes in the fight business are going to fight at 145 pounds. These guys are two of the most amazing, gravity-defying athletes in the sport. I am so pumped for this fight.”

I wonder how the cut down will go for Pettis. I think he could get picked apart by Aldo based on speed but you never know.

The match-up is cool but that’s total BS as far as Lamas goes. Why even have rankings if you don’t stick to contenders.
