Dan Henderson Fine With Shogun Rua Rematch, Just Not Returning To Brazil

Former Strikeforce champion Dan Henderson has spent 25 minutes inside the Octagon with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua before.

“Hendo” could be doing it again later this year when the two collide at UFC Fight Night 38.

Henderson was victorious in that epic first encounter, which many awarded as “Fight of the Year.” Since that time, though, Henderson (29-11) has struggled dealing with injuries and losses.

Seeing Rua again as his opponent has Henderson feeling excitement in his bones.

“I think a lot of fans want to see it, and I think ‘Shogun” wanted to do it again, too,” he said, during an interview on MMAjunkie Radio recently. “Anytime you get a fight as good as that you want to see it again.”

Henderson has yet to have his hand raised since that night with Rua, going 0-3, including a loss to Vitor Belfort in Brazil last November. The prospects of returning to the country to meet Rua wasn’t one he was too pleased about.

“It’s kind of tough to go that far,” he said. “I definitely like the Brazilian fans, but it’s a pain in the butt going over there.”
