Former WEC champion Urijah Faber was denied his chance to become a UFC champion once again over the weekend, falling to Renan Barao for a second time.
Faber, who is 34 years old, has won five of his last seven fights overall and remains a top contender.
However, he could be situated behind some other fighters in the title-pursuit.
So, would “The California Kid” be willing to tinker with the idea of moving up to 145 pounds? Only if the right matchups were offered.
“I’m going to stay at 135, but if there are some big fights at 145, let’s hear what these guys have,” he said. “I would like to do some fights that are interesting.
“I feel like I’m getting better. My body feels great.”
Faber reiterated that he doesn’t “want to go up to 145 permanently, but if there’s something people want to see, I might do it.”
The division currently is home to several top names, including former UFC champions like Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn.
