Medical Suspensions For UFC 169 Released

Abel Trujillo and Jamie Varner engaged in the “Fight of the Night” Saturday at UFC 169.

For their efforts, both fighters were dealt 30-day medical suspensions by the New Jersey Athletic Commission. Trujillo won via second round knockout.

Eight others were medically suspended, including indefinite suspensions for Nick Catone, Tom Watson, Kevin Lee, Rashid Magomedov and Tony Martin. Catone posted on Twitter that he tore his ACL during his fight with Tom Watson.

Below are the complete medical suspensions:

Abel Trujillo suspended for 30 days with no contact.

Jamie Varner suspended for 30 days for knockout loss, also received an indefinite suspension pending a CT head scan, as well as a neurological evaluation.

John Makdessi suspended for 60 days for facial lacerations.

Nick Catone suspended indefinitely pending orthopedic clearance of left knee.

Tom Watson suspended indefinitely pending orthopedic clearance of his right elbow, as well as orthopedic clearance of his right foot.

Al Iaquinta suspended for 30 days for a left lateral brow laceration, and suspended indefinitely pending orthopedic evaluation of his right knee

Kevin Lee suspended indefinitely pending ophthalmological clearance, as well as a CT scan of his facial bones.

Rashid Magomedov suspended indefinitely pending an x-ray of his left foot.

Tony Martin suspended indefinitely pending an MRI of his left knee.

Neil Magny suspended for 30 days with no contact, and also received an indefinite suspension pending an x-ray of his skull and sinuses.
