Hatsu Hioki Accepts Loss With Guida, Promises To Work His Way Back

Many fans and pundits were confused when the judges scores were read off for the Clay Guida win over Hatsu Hioki at UFC On FOX 6, as many of them had Hioki winning all three rounds, but Hioki is taking the high road and isn’t blaming the loss on a home-town decision. Guida got the nod in his homestate by split decision, but Hioki says he just needs to adapt to the unified rules. As of right now, he feels that Guida won the fight fair and square, but he isn’t necessarily interested  in a rematch.

Hioki told MMAWeekly:

“Guida was very skilled and tough. Also, he is a very respectful gentleman, so I was very honored to face him… It would have been great if judges have me more credits for working off my back, but, again, I understand how the unified rules work so I am not to complain about anything. Guida won the bout fair and square.”

As for the idea of a rematch with Guida:

“I cannot think of anything like that nature right now because I just fought, so I will see as a time goes by… The team will learn from this as that fight was a tremendous opportunity as a learning tool, so I take one step at the time to work my way back… I will be back!”
