UFC flyweight John Dodson did better against divisional king Demetrious Johnson at UFC on FOX 6 than most people predicted he would, dropping “Mighty Mouse” more than once and nearly doing enough in the first three rounds to make up for fading in the final two frames. However, Johnson ultimately walked away with his title-reign intact after coming on strong in at the end.
Dodson spoke to Fuel TV after the bout where he exuded positivity rather than ranted about Johnson’s illegal knee strike not or the fact he would have earned a Draw had the blow cost the champ a point.
“I was playing that game – I was trying to make sure that I didn’t get kneed in the face and I got kneed. It’s okay. I don’t mind that it happened because we were changing levels so quickly. It’s okay. I’m fine with that.”
“It’s a learning experience. I had fun in that whole fight. I might have lost it, but I’ll learn a lot from this and I’m gonna come back stronger and win that title.”
