UFC on FOX 6: Johnson vs. Dodson Play-By-Play/Quick Results

The Octagon is back in Chicago! For the second January in a row, the UFC invades the Windy City for another stacked card with UFC on FOX 6: Johnson vs. Dodson. Along with a bevy of hometown talent, the flyweight championship belt is on the line as Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson square off. The co-main event will feature former light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson taking on Glover Teixeira in what will likely be the fan-favorite’s final fight in the UFC.

David Mitchell vs. Simeon Thoresen
Round 1 (Ref: Herb Dean)
Thoresen looking to counter early, as Mitchell is pressing forward with jabs. Thoresen now coming forward, and Mitchell is circling. Mitchell is scoring with his jab and setting up his hook with it. Thoresen is having a hard time pulling the trigger, and now he is circling. Mitchell now landing uppercuts that have bloodied the nose of Thoresen. Thoresen comes forward and lands a nice 4 punch combination that backs up Mitchell. Both fighters are trading, and these guys are standing in the pocket exchanging. Thoresen doing well landing inside leg kicks. Fighters clinch and Thoresen lands a right at the bell.

Round 2
Mitchell comes forward early pressing the action on Thoresen. Mitchell continues to come forward and landa 4 punch combination that drops Thoresen. Mitchell follows him to the ground, and has his back but Thoresen recorvers. Mitchell working from guard and landing some decent ground and pound. Mitchell dives for a leg lock, but Thoresen is able to recover and end  up on top in a scramble. Thoresen not  doing much, but does come close to being gogoplata’d. Mitchell sets up a triangle but Thoresen steps over to defend and ends  up on bottom. Mitchell ends the round  on top landing strikes.

Round 3
Doctor between rounds almost stops the fight because Thoresen is cut. Mitchell comes forward and is pounding the body of Thoresen on the fence. Thoresen lands a big right hand, but Mitchell walks through it. Thoresen lands it again, and it prompts Mitchell to dive in for a takedown.  After a short scramble, they are back up and Mitchell is landing big uppercuts. Thoresen is coming forward, aware he  is losing the fight, Mitchell dives in and ends  up on bottom. Thoresen on top almost in a triangle, but Thoresen lands punches  from the bottom…

Sean Spencer vs. Rafael Natal
Round 1(Ref: Robert Madrigal)
Spencer rushes out and takes the center. Natal is in southpaw. and we have a stop. Spencer takes a finger to the eye. Back underway, Spencer still coming forward and he is clearly the faster fighter. Natal lands a nice right hand, but Spencer is returning fire. Natal still testing the  water on the feet and is looking for a counter. Natal keeps landing a nice leg kick, and Spencer isn’t checking them. Spencer lands a nice  left hand and Natal slips, but he pops right back up. Spencer still pressing forward, and is showing no signs of octagon jitters. Natal shoots but Spencer defends well. Natal lands a nice spinning backfist, and gets Spencer to the ground. He moves right  into full mount. He  lands some GnP as the round ends.

Round 2
Spencer takes the center again, and Natal is  much more confident in his striking. Natal is landing nice jabs, but Spencer is returning fire. Spencer is walking down Natal but Natal lands a side kick, and gets Spencer down. Spencer pops back up, bt Natal is landing knees in the clinch. Natal gets the takedown, and Spencer is locking up Natal to force the stand up. Some nice ground and pound, and Spencer’s corner is pleading for him to stand up. Spencer gives up his back, and  he  is going for the rear naked choke. Saved by the bell.

Round 3
Natal the fresher fighter, but Spencer is coming forward. Spencer is really wingiing his punches now, and Natal grabs ahold of him and gets the takedown. Right into side control, and gets the mounted crucifix. Natal is brutalizing him with elbows, and he moves right into full mount. Natal frames up a head and arm choke from mount, and gets the tap.

Shawn Jordan vs. Mike Russow
Round 1 (Ref: Herb Dean)
Jordan coming forward early, and Russow is looking to take this fight down. Both fighting in the clinch. Russow starts teeing off, and is pushing Jordan around and pounding on him. Jordan is bloody, and Russow tries another takedown but doesn’t get it. Great start for Russow. Russow breaks and lands some nice shots on the break. Russow is landing combination after combination on Jordan, and Russow is now hanging on to the back of Jordan. Russow lands a nice right hand, and he is landing it  almost everytime. Russow back to pressuring Jordan on the fence.

Round 2
Jordan coming forward now, and landing shots. Russow takes a finger to the eye. Back to fighting, Jordan landing a big combination and Russow is taking deep breaths. Jordan gets the takedown after some shots, and is now in full mount. Russow gives up his back, and Jordan takes it. Jordan is smothering Russow now. Russow forces a scramble, and  gets to his feet. Jordan shoots and gets another takedown, and moves into half guard. After some punches Jordan moves into full mount, and starts landing more punches. Russow gives up his back, and Jordan finishes him with strikes from the back.

Ryan Bader vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
Round 1 (Ref John McCarthy)
Bader takes the center, and both fighters exchange jabs. Bader lands a big left hook that drops the janitor. Bader swarms the Matyushenko, and locks up a head and arm choke. He turns in the fastest light heavyweight submission in history.

Pascal Krauss vs. Mike Stumpf
Round 1 (Herb Dean)
Krauss  takes the center, and the feeling out begins. Krauss is looking to set up his jab, but Stumpf is doing well with the leg kicks. Stumpf also looking to take the jabs to the body. Stumpf gets the takedown, and moves to ½ guard. Back on the feet, Krauss lands a nice lead upper cut, but it doesnt bother Stumpf. Krauss begining to open up with his striking. Stumpf eats a ;eft hook, and drops to a knee, it prompts Stumpf to shoot for a takedown but no dice.

Round 2
Krauss right back to work, but Stumpf is coming forward eating shots. Krauss keeps landing a front kick to the face that keeps landing on Stumpf. Krauss is picking apart Stumpf, and Stumpf’s face is a mess. Krauss is finishing every combination with a low kick. Krauss goes for a takedown, but Stumpf hits the switch and ends up on top of Krauss. Krauss gets up, and took very little damage. Krauss now mugging Stumpf on the fences with elbows and knees. Stumpf dives in for a takedown, but Krauss defends and is pressing on Stumpf with a front choke. Dirty boxing clinic going on for Krauss right now.

Round 3
Krauss is landing an overhand right almost every time he throws it, but Stumpf is still coming forward. Krauss just landed 4 ‘1-2’s in a row, and was bouncing Stumpf’s head around like a superball. Krauss clinches Stumpf on the fence, and lands some more inside shots. Krauss really going to town on the legs, and he is really turning it on now. Stumpf finally goes for another shot, but Krauss defends. Stumpf is landing some shots, but its always Krauss winning the exchanges. Stumpf pulls guard, but Krauss is working from guard landing ground and pound.

Clay Guida vs. Hatsu Hioki
Round 1 (Madrigal)
Guida coming forward early, but Hioki is remaining calm as they feel each other out. Hioki lands a nice body shot, and is backing up Guida. Hioki keeps landing a nice uppercut as well. Hioki forces the clinch, and lands some knees on the inside. Hioki doing well switching stances, and he stuffs a takedown. Guida has yet to land a solid strike, he is jumping around a lot but thats it. Guida finally gets a takedown but Hioki isn’t giving him any space. Hioki gets to his feet and lands some knees on the exit.

Round 2
Guida Takes the center, and Hioki starts landing jabs. Guida gets a big takedown, but Hioki is working on a switch. Hioki frames up a kimura and almost gets it, and is now working on a arm bar. Hioki ties up Guida from the bottom, and Guida can’t pass. Guida doing very little from the top, but is holding the position i guess. Ref stands them up. Back to trading and Hioki lands a nice headkick. Round ends.

Round 3
Hioki coming forward early, and is landing body shots. Hioki looks to be the fresher fighter, at the least he is more calm. Guida gets the takedown, but its Hioki threatening from his back. Hioki isn’t giving him any space to work. Guida is just laying there, he isn’t throwing ANY punches. Ref stands them up, Hioki lands some strikes, and Guida shoots in for the takedown he doesn’t get.

T.J. Grant vs. Matt Wiman
Round 1 (John McCarthy)
Grant opens with a hook, and Wiman hits a leg kick. No feeling out here. Wiman going for the low kicks early. Wiman is walking down Grant, but Grant lands a nice right hand. Grant is landing some nice counter combinations. Wiman’s striking seems to be based around his leg kicks. Grant is now throwing some low kicks as well. Grant really seems to have the  more techincal striking. Grant landed an elbow that wobbles Wiman, and Grant closes the distance and lands some combinations. Wiman shoots for the takedown, but Grant ends up on top and goes to work. Wiman is bloodied up, and Grant lets him up. Grant is landing huge elbows like right crosses. He lands another one, and shuts Wiman’s computer off. Clean knockout.

Erik Koch vs. Ricardo Lamas
Round 1 John McCarthy
Lamas pumping the jab early, and Koch is already coming forward. Koch goes to work on the lead leg of Lamas, and looks very confident in his striking. Lamas seems to have a problem pulling the trigger. Lamas goes for the takedown, but Koch defending it well. Lamas is clinching Koch on the fence, and kneeing his legs. They break, and Koch is coming forward and landing an excellent straight right. Lamas gets the takedown, but Koch springs right back up.

Round 2
Koch is really coming forward, but Lamas is firing back. Fighters clinch on the fence, and Koch lands some knees and pulls away. Lamas coming forward, and Koch is looking to slip the jab and land a punch. Lamas slips, and Koch dives on top of him, but in a scramble Koch ends up on bottom. Lamas doing good work from the top. Big elbow opens up Koch’s face, and after 3 punches Big John saves him.

Donald Cerrone vs. Anthony Pettis
Round 1 (robert madrigal)
Pettis opens up with a solid right hand to the chin of Cerrone. Cerrone is coming forward, but Pettis is countering well. Pettis is landing almost at will, but not landing hard shots. Pettis is fighting southpaw, and he lands a huge knee to the body of Cerrone. Pettis backs up and lands a huge kick to the body of cowboy. Cerrone buckles forward and collapses. Madrigal ways off the fight, what a kick from Pettis.

Quinton Jackson vs. Glover Teixeira

Round 1(Herb Dean)
Teixeira comes out swinging. and Rampage is nervous about the takedown. Rampage seems hesitant, but Teixeira ia coming  forward. Teixeira takes down Rampage, and is already on his back. Rampage pops back up, and  lands a leg kick. Teixeira lands a nice head kick, and Rampage starts working his jab. Teixeira owning the center  of the ring, and he lands a solid left hook. Rampage dives  in for a takedown, but Teixeira defends and chases him landing punches. Teixeira wobbles Rampage and Teixeira drops Rampage. Teixeira lets him  up, but Rampage is still out  of it.

Teixeira the fresher fighter, but Rampage looks ok.  Teixeira gets the takedown, and he goes for work from half guard. Teixeira moves to side mount. Rampage scrambles  up, and he lands some solid uppercuts, but Teixeira lands a mean left hook.  Rampage looks out of his element, and Teixeira lands a big uppercut.  Rampage shoots  in, and Teixeira is now throwing head kicks. Rampage is doing his Nick Diaz impression and throwing  up his hands, but the difference is he is losing the fight. Teixeira lands a nice combination to the body to end the round

Teixeira lands a big left hook, but Rampage looks amped  up. He knows he needs a finish. Rampage lands a nice body kick, but Teixeira handles it. Rampage throws a nice combination, and it prompts Teixeira to take him down.  Teixeira lets him up, and greets him with punches. Rampage coming forward now, and Rampage shoots  in but doesn’t get it. Teixeira is battering Rampage, Rampage lands a nice uppercut, but he is getting beat up. Teixeira is being methodical, and  is not being goaded  into a brawl.  Teixeira gets the takedown, and Rampage moves into mount. He landed some ground and pound and the fight ends.

Demetrious Johnson vs. John Dodson (Flyweight Championship)
Round 1(Ref John McCarthy)
Dodson runs right in, and both start circling. Johnson is the one coming forward, and landng leg kicks. Both fighters being cautious, but Dodson lands a left that knocks down DJ for a quick second. Might have been more of a slip. He seems fine.  Dodson catches a kick from Johnson and tosses him aside. Johnson seems to be having a hard time gauging the distance in this fight so far. Johnson lands a nice body kick. Dodson lands a big right hand, and Johnson seems to be chasing him around the ring. Johnson gets the takedown, but Dodson scrambles up. On the way up, Dodson eats a big right hand. Round ends on the fence.

Johnson takes the center, and is walking down Dodson. Dodson lands a nice knee straight right that backs up DJ. Johnson gets the takedown, but Dodson pops up like a spring. Dodson lands a big left hand, and for the second straight round he drops Johnson with it. He lands another big hook, and Johnson gets dropped again. Johnson is hurt. Johnson throws a kick, and Dodson catches it and lands a straight right. Johnson is coming  forward, but Dodson is being calm and collected and is still getting  the  better of the exchanges. Johnson lands a nice one two combination.  Dodson lands a big knee to the body as the round ends.

Dodson looks fresher of the two, and Dodson opens up with a leg kick. Johnson lands a nice body kick. Johnson goes in for a takedown he defends it. Dodson eats a knee to the pills. We are back at it. Dodson lands a big body kick, and  Dodson is almost landing everything. Johnson lands a nice one two, his best  of the fight. Johnson is still the one coming forward, and Dodson lands a big kick to the body. Johnson gets the takedown, Johnson goes to work, but Dodson scrambles up. Johnson closes the round with knees to the body of Dodson.

Johnson opens up with a leg kick, and Dodson returns fire. Johnson gets the  takedown, and Dodson. Johnson lands an illegal knee. The doctor checks out Dodson, and he is ok to fight.  Dodson comes back swinging, and lands a nice left hand and a shot  to the body.  Johnson grabs a leg for the takedown but  doesn’t get it. Johnson lands a nice left  hook, he dives in for a single leg, and  is leaning on Dodson and punishing  him with knees. They exchange again, and Johnson ends the round with a right hand.

The fighters hug, and they get to throwing. Dodson looks fired up, but Johnson looks calm and is coming  forward. Johnson gets the clinch and lands some knees, and drops for the double leg and gets it. Dodson scrambles up, and he is landing knees to the body. Johnson forces a scramble, but right back against the fence. Dodson dives for a takedown, and gets it, but Johnson pops up. Johnson lands some big knees that folded up Dodson, and he is just marking up Dodson with whatever  he wants. Thai plum clinch, and he ends the round landing knees to the head  of Dodson.
