King Mo Lawal Awaiting Confirmation on Strikeforce Title Fight Versus Gegard Mousasi

“Once it’s confirmed, game over,” said “King Mo” Muhammed Lawal (4-0) at MMA Junkie about a potential title shot versus Strikeforce light heavyweight champion “Dreamcatcher” Gegard Mousasi (24-2-1) at Strikeforce in April.  “I’ll feel better when it’s confirmed, you know what I’m saying?”

Lawal claimed the matchup nearly occurred twice before.  Lawal turned down the fight at M-1 Global Breakthrough in Kansas City last August due to a freshly fixed ACL.  Lawal claims he would’ve fought Mousasi at Dynamtite!! 2009 in Tokyo New Year’s Eve, but that Mousasi or his camp turned the fight down.

But, the matchup between two of the biggest young MMA stars is ripe for Strikeforce on CBS in April.

Mousasi TKO’d “Big Daddy” Gary Goodridge (23-19-1) at Dynamtite!! 2009 in a ridiculous matchup.

Lawal impressively stopped “Iron” Mike Whitehead (24-7) at Strikeforce in San Jose December 19.

Mousasi recently claimed to Sherdog that the fight was to his advantage in everything by Lawal’s base martial art: wrestling.

Lawal told MMA Junkie, “”He can say this and that, but we’ll find out come fight time.”
