Bellator 86: Results And Play By Play

Bellator is back with its second event on Spike, and we will have as much coverage as we can muster of the entire event. You can watch the Bellator 86 Prelim fights at the bottom of the page, but we will also be bringing you real time results and play by play of the main card. Bellator 86 will feature a welterweight championship fight between Ben Askren and Karl Amoussou, the debut of Muhammed Lawal and the opening round of the Season 8 welterweight tournament.

Koffie Adzitso vs. Ben Saunders  (Ref Kerry Hatley)
Round 1
Adzitso shuffling his feet, and comes forward for  the shot, but Saunders stops it and clinches him on the fence. Adzitso gets the takedown, but and works to sound control. In the turn, Saunders frames up the triangle choke, but Adzitso is defending well. Adzitso landing some ground and pound, and he spending most of the time defending sub attempts. Ref stands them up, and its Saunders who gets a takedown.  Saunders stacks Adzitso on the fence and goes to work with his punches. Saunders lands a big knee, and Adzitso clinches on  the fence.

Round 2
Adzitso eats a kick and a knee, and a BIG right hand that drops him. Saunders goes to work from the guard, but Adzitso is defending well so far. Saunders landing some shots but  nothing that would cause real damage. They stand them up, and Adzitso starts swinging for the fences to close the distance on Ben. He gets the single leg, and eventually pulls him down. Adzitso working from the top now, but Saunders is working the rubber guard. Ref stands them up, and Adzitso dives in for the takedown. but Saunders hits the switch and Adzitso pops back up. Saunders lands knees while Adzitso swings for the fences.

Round 3
Saunders coming forward early throwing knees, and Adzitso shoots in on the takedown but he ends up on the bottom. Saunders starting to pour it on and Adzitso is just holding on to stall. Saunders is putting on a GnP clinic, and Adzitso has no answers. Saunders standing in guard lands some big shots, and moves to half guard. Adzitso scrambles up and goes for a suplex but Saunders lands on top. He scrambles and ends up on his back with Saunders in mount. Saunders is riding this one out, but ten seconds left he rolls for an arm bar he doesn’t get.

Douglas Lima vs. Michail Tsarev  (Ref Herzog)

Round 1
Tsarev coming forward but both are feeling each other out. Tsarev shoots but Lima is defending well and landing hammer fists. Tsarev is really going for this takedown, but not getting it so far. Tsarev rolls for the takedown but lands  on the bottom and Lima goes to work. Tsarev retains guard, and it looks like we are stalled. Ref stands them  up. The feeling out continues, and not a lot is happening on the feet. Tsarev throws a high kick that Lima blocks, and  he  returns  with a low kick that stumbles Tsarev a bit. He goes down and needs to be helped to his corner.

Round 2
The kick from the end of the round damaged the knee, and Lima kicks it and that thing is messed up. Tsarev stands up, Lima kicks the leg and drops Tsarev. Rinse, wash and repeat until Herzog sees enough.

Przemyslaw Mysiala vs. Mo Lawal
Round 1
Mysiala takes the center and Mysiala goes right after the knee of Lawal. Lawal stalking now, and Mysiala is swinging wild. Mysiala is being backed down by Lawal offering him no competition to speak of. Mysiala’s punches are coming nowhere near landing. Mysiala lands a decent body kick, and Lawal goes to work with the left jab. Mysiala is bloody. Mysiala just can’t find his distance, and Lawal knocks out Mysiala with a right hook.

Ben Askren vs. Karl Amoussou
Round 1 (Ref Jason Herzog)
Amoussou comes out swingng, and lands a big right hand on Askren. Im not sure what happened but Amoussou is on his back tieing up Askren. Askren is getting in some ground and pound. Imagine every Askren fight  you saw, thats what is going on. Amoussou landing some elbows from the bottom. Amoussou iis cut over the eye, but can’t really see where yet. Askren hasn’t tried to pass at all yet.

Round 2
Amoussou swinging already and landing shots, and Askren returns fire. Askren dives for a takedown and Amoussou dives for the inverted heel hook. Askren escapes and ends up on top and Askren is just bloodying him up at this point. Askren has clearly been working on his elbows. Askren moves to half guard, and Amoussou is backed up against the fence. Askren really pouring it on and the ref is watching closely but Amoussou survives.

Round 3
Doctors almost stop the fight due to cuts, but they let it go. 20 seconds in and Amoussou is back on his back and Askren is beating more holes in his head. The  cut is open up again, and Askren is really going to town. Askren passes to side and moves right to mount, and Askren is trying to end it but can’t.
