The most controversial part of UFC on FX 7: Belfort vs. Bisping was obviously the undercard match between Pedro Nobre and Yuri Alcantara. All of the action took place in the first round, and early in the frame it was Alcantara who gained the early advantage. After surviving a very tight Kimura, Nobre was forced to give up his back, and Alcantara attacked with strikes.
Referee Dan Miragliotta determined that Alcantara was landing strikes to the back of the head and stopped the action. The ringside doctor came to the conclusion that Nobre was unfit to continue and the bout was ruled a “no contest”.
The result didn’t sit right with UFC President Dana White, because the replay showed none of the strikes landed to the back of Nobre’s head. White took to Twitter to voice his feelings about the fight, writing, “That was BS!!! Pedro deserves an award winning actor, what a horrible call by Dan M.”
It turns out White took it a step further, also announcing Alcantara would receive his win bonus.
