UFC Stiffens Stance on Performance Enhancement Drugs

The UFC readjusted its approach to performance enhancement drugs in 2012 and promised fans the issue was still being explored. As such, UFC brass noted that the policy would continue to evolve and recently took further steps to toughen their stance on PED use. From now on, all fighters who compete on an international card where the UFC acts as the commission will be tested for drugs.

The UFC didn’t stop there either, as UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner recently told MMAJunkie that the fighters will not be paid ‘fight night’ bonuses until their tests come back clean. These checks are typically handed out the  night of the event, but going forward this is no longer the case.

According to the report, these changes are effective  immediately and the fighters fighting this weekend in Brazil are all subject to the new rules. UFC On FX 7: Belfort vs Bisping takes place Saturday in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
