Andre Galvao a no go for "The Ultimate Fighter"

After reportedly being a lock for the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, it looks like Andre Galvao will not be joining the cast after all.

The budding welterweight prospect had long been rumored to appear on the show, with TATAME.com reportedly citing both Galvao and middleweight fighter Vitor Vianna as “locks” for the upcoming thirteenth season of the reality show.

However, after both Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos were reported as the coaches for the upcoming season, it was also revealed that the cast will solely consist of a welterweight field, and Galvao independently confirmed later that he got neither a call nor an email about a possible run for the TUF series.

MiddleEasy.com has reported that the former Jiu-Jitsu world champion will not in fact be joining the cast of the ultra popular mixed martial arts reality series, and Galvao himself has since suggested the same.

Andre first bursted onto the mixed martial arts scene following world class credentials in the Jiu-Jitsu department, when he ventured overseas to compete in DREAM’s inaugural welterweight Grand Prix. The Brazilian was impressive early on, submitting highly touted UFC and WEC veteran John Alessio with a first-round armbar. However, Andre eventually lost a disputed split-decision to eventual finalist Jason High, on the tournaments semi-final round.

Galvao then signed with San Jose based promotion Strikeforce, where he went 2-1 in the organization. After recording a TKO win over fellow countryman and former UFC title challenger Jorge Patino, Galvao was knocked out by rising contender Tyron Woodley inside of the first-round when the two welterweights met last October.

Andre left the organization in hopes to appear on the TUF series, however his dream’s have been squelched in the meantime, though he will likely find little downtime to toddle in disappointment.

So, MMA peeps, what do you think of the news? Bummed that Andre didn’t make the final cut? Sound off in the comment section below.
