Aldo held on to his belt after stuffing the bulk of Mendes’ takedown attempts, then landing a flush knee during a transition in the last few ticks of the fight’s opening frame. The 145-pound phenom quickly sprung on top of Mendes, landing a strike to end things and improve his record to 21-1.

Meanwhile, Belfort choked Johnson out after some vicious exchanges early on. With the defeat it is likely Johnson will be cut from the roster after missing weight entering the bout.
