The commentating crew knew it, the audience knew it, UFC President Dana White knew it, but somehow the judges in Oklahoma didn’t. When you add up all the numbers, K.J. Noons won his fight on Saturday night against Ryan Couture, though it was Couture who got the nod from the judges.
It was thought fighters had to win at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs Saffiedine to get a guaranteed a shot in the UFC after the Strikeforce card, but despite the loss Noons is headed for the Octagon.
Noons told MMAJunkie:
“They (UFC) said, ‘Heal up, and as soon as you’re healed up, then start training, and we’ll get you on a card.”
He talked about the decision:
“I can pout on it and complain, or dust myself off, know that in my head I won the fight, and take this and turn it into a positive.”
